Pick of the Week: Rare Society
Rare Society, from the Southern California Trust Restaurant Group, with five locations in California and Washington, has now opened its sixth location in UnCommons.
Situated adjacent to the self-parking garage on 6880 Helen Toland Street, the dining room exudes a warm vibe with wood grain floor, light brown booths and banquettes, wood ceiling, polished metal, open kitchen, stacks of wood next to the kitchen alluding to the wood fired grilling, and two meat dry-aging boxes; the U-shaped bar has a mirrored ceiling and prominent display of whiskies; and a patio with greenery and fans offers additional seating.

Your meal can begin with seafood delights, such as Hamachi Crudo with red curry aioli, pickled pineapple, and peanut crunch, or Seafood Royale, a mini seafood tower stocked with oysters, shrimp, king crab, ahi tartare, Maine lobster, and salmon poke.
The best way to explore the live-fire, wood-grilled cuts is to partake in one of the boards: The Associate, suitable for a minimum of two people, or The Executive, suitable for a minimum of four people, with cuts selected by the chef. Steak offerings include seven cuts such as Snake River Farms Wagyu Tri Tip, 35-day Dry-Aged Bone-In Ribeye, and 40-day Dry-Aged Bone-In NY Strip. Non-beef proteins include Pork Tomahawk with achiote glaze, Pacific Swordfish with beurre blanc, Fried Chicken with hot sauce, and King Salmon with salsa verde.
Desserts feature Bananas Foster Cheesecake with Nilla wafers and rum, and Buttercake served with sour cream ice cream.

The beverage menu offers a variety of whiskey choices and unique cocktails, such as the Rare Old Fashioned, featuring dry-aged fat-washed bourbon, rosemary oleo, bitters, and a substantial garnish of pork belly.
